Mr. Kohl
I am a graduate of Troy High School ('93) and Michigan State University (BS Physics '97). I have been at CVHS teaching various sciences and the occasional math class since my start in the district in 1999. Besides spending time with my wife and children, my time is spent working the earth. My children and I farm the land and raise chickens, donating the crops to the CVHS food pantry. My favorite TV shows are Detroit sports (like Tigers or Lions), Ghost Hunters, and Modern Family.

Mrs. Downham
I graduted from Eastern Michigan University in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science in General Science and Biology. Earned a Masters Degree in Science Education from Lawrence Technological University in 2009. I've taught at the Valley for 10 years in Biology, Physical Science, Earth Science and now Conceptual Physics. My husband is a fellow teacher at Dakota and we have two children. I love music like: U2, Keane, Cold Play, The White Stripes and many others. I love the Tigers and soccer, I love talking about both! When I am not thinking about Physics, I collect rocks and bugs....its totally cool really. I am easy going and I want you to enjoy physics so you can make a connection to real life activities.

Mrs. Sturza
I graduated from Michigan State University in 1987 with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and graduated from Oakland University in 1995 with a Masters of Business Administration. I received my Teacher Certification from Saginaw Valley State University in 2010. I bring to the classroom industry experience as I worked as an electrical engineer with Detroit Edison (DTE Energy) and as a business owner of my own company. I love physics and hope to inspire students to pursue a technical career in science. I enjoy spending time with my family and attending Michigan State football games in the fall.
